Norway's Doomsday Vault

Interesting idea, but don't most seeds have a life of a few years? They'd better be restocking and rearranging the vault yearly. :call: |
Re: Norway's Doomsday Vault
Properly dried and stored seeds can last indefinetaly.

Re: Norway's Doomsday Vault
That's not what I've heard. But maybe I heard wrong.
I was under the assumption that if they're dry for too long, the seeds lose their ability to sprout. I'm a total layman here, but I would like to know more answers to questions like these so I can store my own heirlooms. |
Re: Norway's Doomsday Vault
The seeds can last a very long time, but the germination rates plummets. I've heard of wheat found in Egyptian tombs sprouting, don't know if it's true or not.

Re: Norway's Doomsday Vault
True the germination rates plummet but if properly humidified then you can hold that off.
